Tonya's Story
Life
I have been a Community Health advocate/Social Worker for nine years with the Guilford County Health Department Triad Baby Love Plus Program. I do outreach within the identified targeted communities to prevent infant mortality and close the gap in racial disparities among African-Americans women of childbearing age. I assist these women and their families by providing educational information to them, making referrals depending on their needs and educating them in regards to living a healthy lifestyle before, during, and after pregnancies. I currently am the founder of ÂSistahs on the Move Achieving a Dream through Sisterhood, which is a mentoring program within the Guilford County School system for at risk girls between the ages of 11-17. I currently serve on the NC Fatherhood ...Expand for more
