Tracy's Story
After graduating high school I went to Florida State university. I was engaged to a military guy and throught I'd need an occupation that I'd be able to take with me from base to base...
how about teaching?
Ended up not getting married, changed my major from elementary education to secondary English education. LOVED my student teaching with all grade levels though (Kindergarten, 10th grade, 12th grade, and 7th graders). Decided to remain at the middle grades forever.
I taught 6th graders for the first four years of my career and then 6th, 7th, and 8th graders for the next four years. Then, I decided I needed a break from all this forced stuff and got my Masters degree in Instructional Technology - Educational Media (fancy name for school librarian) so I could hang out with all the kids who really liked to read and would come see me because they actually WANTED to. Been doing that for the last 7 years. The educational system in Florida is breaking down, I believe, and I'm not sure what I'll do...Expand for more
when I've finally had it.
From high school through my 20s, I dated, but not a lot. It took me a long time to really know who I was and what I wanted from life. After my 30th birthday, I figured I probably would never meet anyone right for me and resigned myself to spinsterhood. One night I met this random guy standing in line at a restaurant and got his help on a little treasure hunt game for my group's bachelorette party. We haven't been apart since.
Hats off to all the funny characters I've met in my life! My hubby keeps me laughing till I can't breathe. Brian A. & David C., Ron M. & Scott F., Craig R.- I'll always remember you!
I think my weirdest worry is that I WON'T be remembered much by people. I didn't really come into my own until my 30s, so I often wonder what opinions people had of me when I was young(er).
My best friends in high school were Annette Houshour (CCHS) and Joanna Thomson (OHS). We're all over the place now so it would be really nice to see them again at reunions.
