Tracy's Story
Life
I lived in Washington state for 23 years, but returned to the Sierra foothills area of California with my husband in 2011. Prior to moving, I spent many years as a writer and editor for Vulcan, Paul Allen's parent company. I'm about to enter graduate school for a masters in history/museum studies, switching gears a bit. I remember Alameda, the town of my youth, as a sweet little paradise, and I feel lucky to have experienced it.
School
I had no clue when I left Alameda High School that you (A...Expand for more
) had to take SAT tests and (B) sign up for college well ahead of time. Let's hear it for those hard-working guidance counselors!
But I spent a couple of creative years at College of Alameda, where I learned I could write. I spent many years, however, in the work force before returning to school again in 1985 at SF State....and again in 1991 at The Evergreen State College. Just a year shy of my 20th high school reunion, I got my degree in creative writing and filmmaking. What can I say? Late bloomer.
