Tracy's Story

Life After my freshman year in Germany, my father was stationed to Ft. Hood TX, where I graduated from Ellison High School. We then were stationed to Ft. Jackson, ,South Carolina. I attended the University of SC in Columbia, majoring in music, vocal performance specifically. While going to school, I earned money by touring with a band on the weekends, performing mostly in the southeastern states. I met William (a wonderful and exceptionally good looking hunk of a man :)at a church dance in Jan. of '89, and in Nov. of 1990 we got married. William was in the Air Force, and we planned on staying in. Then, in 1990 our first child Sara was born with severe disabilities, and her doctors weren't sure she'd make it through the year. Almost immediately after her diagnosis, William got orders for a one year unaccompanied tour to Korea, with follow-on orders to a base in Idaho that wouldn't be close enough to a hospital that could care for her IF she even lived that long. Needless to say, William got out of the military with a medical discharge. We moved to Utah where William could go to school and we could be close to a hospital that had a doctor on staff who was studying Sara's particular syndrome. While still in Utah, I gave birth to our second child, James. In 1995 we moved to William's hometown of Kansas City, where he is an officer with the Kansas City Police Department. We've since added two ...Expand for more
more children to our family, Mary in '97 and Emma in '99. Amazingly, Sara has defied all the odds. And though she's 14 and functions like an 8 month old baby, and is completely dependant for all of her care, she's actually very healthy and happy. For the first 15 years of our marriage I stayed home with the kids and homeschooled them. But last year (2005), we put the kids into public school, (whew!) and I now work with the school district part-time, so I can still be home when the kids are home. As in high school and college, my passion is still music, but in 2003, that passion ventured into a new area for me. For the past 3 years I've been working from home as a songwriter, writing mostly Contemporary Christian and Country music. I also dabble a little in sacred choral music (much harder to write, so I don't do it very often!). I also do music seminars for school and church youth groups, which I absolutely LOVE doing. If interested, please drop my website for a free listen to some of my songs. Just go to Soundclick and type "Tracy Keeney" in the search. I'd love to find old friends (when you move around alot with the military, you leave a lot of friends behind!): Francis Whitehorn, Sigi Haracourt, Holly Perry, Holly Hobecke, Leona Burress, Richard Cox, Laura West, Jennifer Keenan (FOUND!), Vicky Paxton, Deanna Mueller (FOUND!).....too many to name!!
