Trish's Story
Life
After BHS I didn't go to college. I had actually had a full ride to Western and could easily have followed in the footsteps of all of my cousins. Then I attended orientation and had my first panic attack and realized that crowds and I would not be friends. So I chose a different path and went to work. I had my first son, Darryl, at 20 and met my husband at 22. He graduated from Clawson in '83. We had our son, James, when I was 25 and we married when I turned 30. So, 20, 25, 30, when I turned 35 I dyed my hair red and got my first tattoo. At 36 we bought our first house and that is when my life and my husband's life took different paths. All I can say now is that, while we are geographically in the same place, we are worlds apart.
So now I am in school and have been for what seems like forever. I actually never left Oakland Community College. As long as I continue to get scholarships I will continue here. I wasn't in the Nationa...Expand for more
l Honor Society at BHS. Now I am in the Phi Theta Kappa Internationl Honor Society. It is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I have discovered the outgoing side of myself and once that cat was out of the bag there was no turning back. I currently serve as Vice President of Service, having previously served as VP of Leadership, Recording Secretary and Newsletter Editor. I have traveled all over the state meeting new people and making new friends. I have cultivated my leadership skills in ways I never thought possible. When our board members went to the International Convention in April 2007, I won an international award as an Outstanding Chapter Officer and my chapter advisor won an international award due to an essay I wrote.
So that is my life at this moment. I lead a very busy life and enjoy it tremendously. I'm not sure if this is all what you wanted to know about me, but if there is more you want, just let me know.
