Trish's Story
Life
My Spouse
I met my husband in Albuq. where he was stationed in the Army. I met him on the 4th of July! That was the beginning of a relationship that has lasted all these almost 42 years as of Dec. 23rd.
My Kids
Both of our beautiful daughters are married with children. Our eldest daughter was a teacher in Albuq. at Adobe Acres. She taught 4th grade until she and her husband were expecting their first child, then moved to another State. They now have two beautiful daughters, one 17, and one 13. Our Grandchildren are the delight of our life! My eldest daughter received her BA, BS and Masters in Education at UNM. Our youngest daughter attended College in South Carolina where she studied business. She has presently realized one of her goals and dreams of working in the medical field and is now a certified Nurses Assistant. She wants to go on to become an LPN. She and her new husband are expecting their first child and her fifth in Dec. 16th.
Both of our daughters are very sweet Christian, talented young women. Both of the girls play the piano beautifully and have been teaching their own children to play the piano. Our youngest daughter has 5 children, one son, 22, and in the Marines. He is currently a guitarist in the Marine band. 4 daughters ages 19, 16, a saucy redheaded who is now 13.and the youngest girl who is now 3 years old. Our son is 41 and lives with us. He has Mosiac Downs Syndrome, and tells some of us we have it too! He is enjoying all the attention from his sisters and their families now that we live near them. Andy graduated with honors from Los Alamos High School. He was very active in NM in Special Olympics and received many medals with many of them being first place. He was very good at downhill skiing and loved it very much. His last first place medal in downhill skiing took place at Angel Fire. He lost all of his medals in the Cerro Grande fire, the fire was a very tramatic ordeal for him. He came through it better than we thought he would. He is a very happy and personable young man who makes friends with everyone. I tell my son, "you are the wind beneath my wings". I tell my daughters that song is for them as well. Having a special person like our son in our life has been both challenging (probably more challenging for him) and rewarding. He has brought something special into everyone's life he meets and especially into the lives of all of his family. Our family feels especially blessed to have him in our lives! He was in recording session in the year (2008) with Leonardo from MI who goes around singing his wonderful songs and attending events for Down Syndrome Awareness. Andy was on a special news report with Leonardo along with some of his friends who sang back up on Leonardo's newest CD claled: "Makin Waves" I just gave permission for my son to be featured in a magazine with Leonardo and his friends. He is getting way too much attention, LOL His family all help to encourage Andy in all he does by attending the different events like the "Michiana Down Syndrome Walk" that is held every year at and had been held at Notre Dame University Campus. He has a great family and friend support group. He competed in Special Olympics Ballroom dancing July 5th, 09, 2010, 2011,2012 in Ft. Wayne where he placed 2nd in the boxstep and 1st in the foxtrot.along with other five other gold medals in 2010. He is a very smooth dancer. He loves dancing and this was h...Expand for more

We are very excited for Andy's new found talent. He also has a very special and sweet girlfriend he has a lot of fun with. They a perfect together.
Work:
I was always a wife and mother first yet I had my own sewing business for many years in my home, and did very well with it. After we lost our home in the Cerro Grand Fire May 10, 2000, I decided to start something new and fun creating my own line of baby blankets.
My family and I bid NM farewell in Aug. 2004, along with many wonderful memories made there the 18 and a half years we lived in Northern NM.
My parents lived in Albuq. for 45 years. My Dad passed away in 1992 and my Mother passed away in 1999 in CA where she lived for a few years. My youngest sister lives in Albuq. with her husband. She has two sons who also live in Albuq. Her eldest son was over in the war zone and was injured while on duty. It is so wonderful to have him back with his son. My nephew served in Iraq recently and is once again back home without being harmed this time. My younger and only brother lived in OR. He suddenly passed away over two years ago at the young age of 41. Life is short, we need to spend time with those we love and cherish because we never know when one we love will be taken from us.
God bless the USA, our troops and their families!

The 40th class reunion was a BLAST! Thanks to James Souter for the pictures he took and displayed. I hope we can all stay in touch until we meet again. Thanks to Jackie (Hastings) and all for the great job you did for our 40th class reunion. PS Where are all you classmates from the reunion who vowed to stay in touch? I'm looking forward to the next one, which at this time of my writing will be next summer, y'all be there now!
College
I attended Business college in Albuquerque. I also took some college courses in sewing and Theology.
Workplace
I worked for the Core of Engineers in Albuquerque then, Internal Revenue Service. After working for the govt., I was a legal secretary before meeting and marrying my husband. We moved to his home state of NE where I started my sewing business. We later moved back to NM where I once again started my sewing business where I met people from all over the World. I made garments for clients in the beginning (1976) before making the decision to do alterations from 1976 until we were burned out by the Cerro Grande Fire May 10, 2000 in Los Alamos, NM. I now sew for my family along with being in the process of having my own line of baby blankets out on the market in the near future. That is a dream of mine I have already begun. I know that dreams do come true and through the Lord, all things are possible. Experience is a tremendous teacher and I have really enjoyed the experiences and the people my sewing business has brought into my life. I have always loved a challenge and sewing for others is a real challenge as well as being fun. I now enjoy selling my baby blankets along with other of my own creative designs on aprons, etc.
