Troy's Story

Life I was born in Caldwell,Texas but we moved to Nashville when I was 5 yrs old. Early in my life I began performing and was on stage, performing by the time I was 2 yrs old on stage with Bob Wills & the Texas Playboys & Ernest Tubb. I started school at Eakin Elementary in Nashville..( I still miss Susan Yarnell,ha! and you too Rhonda Stelding). I later went to Head Jr High, and 7th grade at Washington JR High, before moving back to Texas in 78',where I went to school at Landrum Jr. High, then my freshman year at Spring Branch High ( Go Bears!!) & then later graduated from Aldine Sr Hi (go Mustangs!!). And although I did not graduate from Hillsboro, I still have wonderful memories of alot of those that did!! Tim Parkison...I don't care what you did,lol ( you know what i mean,)..you'll ALWAYS be a good buddy to me , you and Neil(Hollis)Hamms! Ramona Hargis...( deep breath), I still can't help but smile when I think of you... even after all these years! Nan Burrus, Kim Younge, Karlin Crockett, Laura Green, Lisa Fults...you girls were gorgeous. Ya'll are one of the things I missed most after we moved back to Tx! I hope you are all doing ok!!! I have never stopped performing, including writing originals, and somehow found time to get married and be blessed with the 2 most precious boys in the world: Austin and Matthew. Currently I have a band called " T...Expand for more
ROY HESS & the Texas Heartbreakers" & I'm writing a book on mine & my families life in the music business, which includes history on my dad who was taught how to play guitar by the father of Country Music, Jimmie Rodgers, and also about dad being on Mercury Records, and then later producing the 1st record on Kenny Rogers called "That Crazy Feeling"; my mother who at one time worked for Lorretta Lynn, then Hank Jr., then Mel Tills, then Don Williams, and then finally why we moved back to Texas to book Gene Watson when she opened a business with Gene's manager here in Houston; and then my life which includes meeting Ronald Reagan, Roy Rogers, Dick Clark, Johnny Cash,...etc... opening for Dolly & then the rock band "Days of the New", being feature in several books on country music, as well as magazine's and music documentaries such as the BBC's "All You Need Is Love", and of course, the novelty record I recorded at the age of 7 : "Please Don't Go Topless Mother" which has become an internet sensatiion. The book should be very interesting!!!!! I still miss Nashville and hope to someday surprise everyone, at say Hillsboro's 50th class reunion, lol. If you'd like to reach me, my email is : showay at america on line dot com....smiles. For all that read this,..take care and God bless, warmest regards, Troy ("Snooky") Hess
