Troy's Story
I would say I had a full life in a very short period of time. After attending schools in Nevada and Nebraska, I graduated from Lincoln (NE) High in 1990. Three weeks later I was in Basic Training with the Air Force, where I ran into Solon from MCHS. Of all the people I knew from any school I ever attended, Solon is one of only three I have ever ran into since graduation, and that was in the Mess Hall at Lackland about 6 weeks after graduating.
After Basic, I went to Monterey, CA for linguistics training and then to Texas for electronics training. After leaving there I did some training in Illinois and eventually landed at Offutt AFB near Omaha, NE as a Vehicle Mechanic. During my 2 years at Offutt, I did a 4 month tour-of-duty in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Following Riyadh and Offutt, I did a two-year stint at Aviano AFB in northern Italy. It was during this tour I attended my only NFL game to date when the L.A. Raiders beat the Denver Broncos 25-22 in the '94 American Bowl in Barcelona. This was an especially good game for me since it was the year my favorite player (Tom Rathman) played for the Silver-and-Black.

d when my time at Aviano ended, which was great timing since my next base would have been Grand Forks in North Dakota. I returned to Lincoln, Nebraska and began working as a mechanic before blowing out my shoulders. After that I went to school for Computer Programming but found LSC did not meet my educational needs, so I left school. From there I bounced around jobs a bit: cooking, computer repair and light programming, and mechanic-related jobs.
In 2000 I returned to school for Electronics Repair. At the same time I began teaching myself woodworking. As a result of learning woodcraft, I realized that my calling is not to fix other people's problems and mistakes, but rather to create and invent my own things. Around this time I began receiving a military pension, so I left school and am now retired.
I spend my days wood crafting, furniture building, landscape painting, and playing video games.
I got married in 2004, and have 3 granddaughters. And in October 2006, we moved to Emmett, Idaho. Since moving here I have also taken up whitewater rafting and hunting (deer, elk, turkey, antelope, etc). Life here is exactly how I like it, quiet!!!
