Trudy's Story
Currently, I live in Tacoma in the "Old Town" neighborhood, near the Ruston Way waterfront. I retired (hurrah!!) in 2008 after not only doing medical transcription for many, many years but also teaching many other people to do it at local community colleges and also actually giving birth to a medical transcriptionist (my daughter); who is now doing database. My husband (William Looney) and I traveled quite a bit and have seen most of the US, Europe, South America, Australia, New Zealand and the Far East, especially Vietnam, and did a great cruise of the British Isles in summer 2008. s incredibly wonderful seaside places nearby. We did our first trip to Africa in March 2009, doing a safari in South Africa and then a cruise up the west coast of the continent, stopping in Namibia, Ghana, the Canary Islands and Lisbon, then spending 4 days in Paris and going back to the UK via the Chunnel. We particularly enjoyed Asia, especially Thailand and Vietnam, where we made many friends and where my husband helped build a school in Sapa (part of the Montagnard area in the northern mountains) to help girls get an education. My son is a marine engineer, often on a tug in Alaska, and both my "children" live in the NW.
Unfortunately, Bill died on 9/11/2015 of sarcoma that was undiagnosed until it was very widespread. I miss him terribly.
