Valerie's Story
Life
Since graduation in 1960 I have worked in both government and private industry, attended college, got married in 1969, had two beautiful sons, divorced in 1976, raised two fine young men (now 38 and 37), continued in the workforce, finally graduated from Potomac College (Washington, DC) in 1998.
That same year, I met a wonderful man at work named Bill Orndorff; we fell in love and married in 1999! We had a lovely home in Jeffersonton, VA where we loved spending our weekends and free time maintaining our lovely one-acre lot, mostly with the help of Bill's John Deere riding tractor-mower and the DR Field & Brush mower! We had fun.
In May of 2004 my husband was diagnosed with bladder cancer; despite heroic efforts to beat the disease, Bill lost his battle with cancer in February of 2005. In March of 2006, I sold the house in Jeffersonton and moved here to Texas to be near my elder son, Richard, and his l...Expand for more
ovely wife, Megan. My younger son, Bill, has since moved down here, too, and I am so happy to have both my boys close to me. Life in Texas has been good. The people here are lovely, the weather is warm, and the D/FW area is senior-friendly. In 2008 I completed my Microsoft Office Specialist certification at Tech Skills in Ft. Worth, and attempted to rejoin the work force. I am still unemployed (probably too old), but I am doing well inspite of it all.
In August of last year (2010), my elder son Richard and his wife, Megan, presnted me with a lovely granddaughter, Maren. Life is so good with grandchildren in it. Little Maren is the apple of my eye and brings me such joy and happiness every time I see her. Life here continues to be good.
