Life At a young age (some say too young), I married my high-school sweetheart, Sharon Van de Walker. We had one son. Sadly, she contracted systemic lupus erythematosis and passed away at age 25. Five years later, I married my present wife, Thuy Mac, a native of Viet Nam. We have two daughters and a son. As of April 2009, my older son is married and has a daughter. College After graduating from John Muir High School, I spent four quarters at CalTech before realizing that I wanted to study computer science instead of engineering or physics. At the time, CalTech didn't offer computer science. I dropped out, and then picked up degrees in Computer Science (BS) and Applied Mathematics (MS) at West Coast University, a small private university oriented toward working adults. It is now, unfortunately, defunct due to incredibly poor management. West Coast University spun off from Occidental College in 1889, when Occi was a Presbyterian theological college in East L.A. It was chartered by the state of California in 1909, and switched to a nights-and-weekends only format in 1954. It went belly up in 1996.
