Life
Born Bournemouth, England July 9, 1945. Immigrated to Hamilton, Ont, Canada in 1948. Three sisters: Janet, born 1951, Gail, born 1953 and Elizabeth, born 1956. Lived in Hamilton until 1954, moved to Ancaster, Ont. Attended Brantdale Public School 1950 to 1954, Ancaster Memorial Public School 1954 to 1957, Rousseau School 1958 to 1959, Ancaster High & Vocational School 1959 to 1964. First job as assistant to the Librarian's secretary at MacMaster University Library, Hamilton, 1964 to 1966. Married Roger Newcombe November 1964. Private secretary to University Librarian 1966 to 1968. Moved to Australia June 1968 and have been here ever since. Roger & I sailed on the P&O Orsova from Vancouver, BC June 1968, landing Sydney, NSW, Australia July 1968. Settled in Brisbane, Qld. Did secretarial work until son, Kit, born January 28, 1971. Moved to Sydney, NSW, 1972. Separated from Roger January 1976. Back to work, as secretary. Divorced 1977. Married Brian Jones January 1987. Moved to Noosa, Qld, 1989, back to Sydney, then up to Gympie, Qld, where we had a restaurant(!!) - pancakes & crepes - from 1994 till 1997, when we sold the restaurant then promptly separated and I moved back to Sydney. the folks. Learned Reiki. Back to Sydney, Australia in January 2001 (missed the Olympics!!!) - the Blue Mountains, actually, just west of Sydney. Learned massage. Set up massage/Reiki practice in my home in July 2001. Divorced 2002. Met Duncan Swanborough March 2002 and we moved in together November of that year. Currently living 'de facto' (hate that term). Still doing massage and Reiki and loving it; still in the Blue Mountains. My son, Kit, has been with his partner, Rebecca, for about 12 years now. They've been 'engaged' for about 10 or 11 of those years, but who needs marriage! No grandchildren yet, although Duncan was blessed with a granddaughter March 2006. He has 2 sons, 30 & 32. The younger one is the new father. Duncan & I have a 3 bedroom house in Blaxland (Blue Mountains). There are wonderful bush walks near our home and all through the mountains. We just love it here. Kit & Rebecca 'live' in the Blue Moutains, too, in a place called Katoomba. I say 'live' because they are currently working in the Bahamas, coming home once or twice a year. Dad passed away about 3 years ago. Mom is 87 and living with my sister, Janet, in Dundas, Ont. Mom's health isn't the best, but she's soldiering on. Other sisters, Gail & Liz live in Dundas and Ancaster, respectively. I'm the only one that flew the coop!
