Vanessa's Story
Life
Ive moved around a lot. Was married young and divorced a year later. Feeling restless I joined the Air Force and spent 6 years in the Air Force as a Korean Linguist and had a blast. I met my current husband, Denver, while in the AF and we have been married 10 years. Together we have 3 children (2008)... Ian 8, Evan 6, and Addison 2 . Alec is 14 and is Denver's son from a previous marriage. I have lived in Utah, Nevada, California, Texas, Arizona, and Kentucky....and now I have come back home to stay! Would love to hear from anyone I have known!
School
After Alta I went to BYU but only lasted a semester. After I got married the first time, I went back to BYU for another 2 semesters....but as life would have it, I never finished. I spent 2 years studying Korean and communications in the Air Force at the Defense Language Institute in California.....loved every minute of it. Finishing a degree is still on my to do list. Maybe after the kids are grown ;)
Workplace
As you can see from my communitites list, Ive been around. Most of my jobs have had something to do with finance though. Right now I work just to supp...Expand for more
lement my husbands income because my main job is at home with the kids. My dream job is to become a writer or editor.
Military
So, after my divorce I was a bit disallusioned and didnt want to stay in Utah. At the time I wanted to be in the FBI. I was told my best shot at that without a bachelors degree was to become a Linguist as the FBI needed them. So, I joined the Utah Air National Guard and spent 6 years with the Air Force as a Korean Linguist. What an experience. I learned a lot about myself and what I wanted out of life and got to see some pretty cool stuff. I thought about re-elisting but I had just had my first baby and it was too scary thinking about leaving him for months at a time so I got out. Would I do it again? Most definitely. But, next time I would go through Officer Training School because not only do you get your degree, you become an officer and life in the military as an officer is much better than an enlisted grunt. Anyway, I think you can probably figure it out that my dreams of the FBI never came to pass as I ended up married and having children....but there is no regret in that either.
