Vera's Story
I attended Madison College (JMU) after high school and received my teaching degree. After teaching first grade for two years in Front Royal, VA, I went back full time at UVA and completed my masters in reading in their education school. I met my husband, Gary, during that time. We moved to the Richmond area where I taught for an additional 5 years while Gary completed medical school and residency at MCV. We started a family and I quit teaching. I don¿t know how teachers raise a family and teach¿.I couldn¿t do that! Instead, I began volunteering in the schools. eat place to live!! It¿s so quiet & peaceful compared with Northern Virginia.
Our oldest (daughter) attended Wake Forest and is presently completing her last year of her law degree/masters in public policy at the University of Chicago. She has a job lined up with a law firm in Chicago for next year. Our two sons attended UVA (one graduated & the other is in his fourth year) but have not figured out their career paths. No marriages, yet. My parents are still living across from the courthouse in Fairfax, but with help.
It¿s hard to believe that we¿ve been out of high school for over 40 years!!! Hope life has been treating all of you well and continues to do so!
