Life After Grad. night this is what happened to me. I left the next day & went back to the farm in OK with my grandfather. I worked as a roughneck (oilfields) until I returned to CA at 1st of SEP 1953. I worked at Lockheed & was a studio musician at Capitol Records in Hollywood until the end of 1954. Rock & Roll just hit the market & I needed a job that paid better so I went to work for a printing company (2nd largest in the world) In their wisdom, I became the "youngest" supervisor in the history of the company. They paid for my B.A. at San Fernando Valley State College (now called CAL ST. at Northridge). I met my wife,to be,at the end of 1953. She was still in H.S. On 19 FEB 1954 we became engaged, married the 18th FEB 1956. While married & working at printing co.& going to college I was also a reserve firefighter for the L.A. CO. FIRE DEPT.(10yrs). We bought a ranch home in Canoga Park, CA in 1958. We left CA in OCT 63 went to Reno worked there for 3 mo. and was on layoff. So headed East got into S.L.CITY, seen the city and left for Denver. Took two days to get a job in printing went back to Reno loaded up and left. Started work the 18th FEB 1964. Working for a printing company 28 yrs. During this time we owned a trucking co. based in CA.,Service stations (mechanic type). For 34yrs while working in printing (I am one of a handfull that has a MASTER PRINTER CARD). I was a volunteer fire fighter in a small city. After 24yrs the printing co. was sold and liquidated. Being upper management I was the 1st to go. I was with the small city fire dept. at the time I was let go, from my position. At that time I became the 1st and only full time chief in their history. In 1990 I took my city retirement as Fire Chief. I went back to college just to learn some things I wanted to know, I ended up getting 3 more degrees. I have B.A. in Business Administration and Management. I have Associate Degree in Applied Science in Fire Science.
