Veronica's Story

I attended PV school on Monument, *funny how you never forget things like that : ). I was there from grade-K to grade 5, I loved all the kids I went to school with. I loved my favorite teachers too: Miss. Virginia Dahl, 3rd grade, Mrs. Margaret Dunn, grade 4, I had Ms. Donagan for 5th, she would help me with work, and I always remembered she smelled of celery & cigarettes : ) she was nicer than she has reputation for, she was firm and we learned a lot. Those years flew by so fast! I walked to and from school, now it seems everyone drives their kids to school--including myself. I was always in GIrl Scouts too. I loved it! now that's a nerdy thing to do, but back then it seemed cool, of course that was my innocent view of the world. Mr Butler was our principle, he appeared in all our group pictures. My parents were not real good about ordering or keeping my class pix, etc, so I haven't not a one. SO IF ANYONE HAS ANY OLD CLASS PIX I"D LOVE TO SEE THEM!!! REALLY!! DOES ANYONE REMEMBER THE OPEN HOUSE NIGHTS? in the fall, cool nights, popcorn in the cafeteria and cake and cocoa? showing your parents with pride, your desk and your room and your teacher....so fun! RISLEY: I of course attending Risley with MOST OF YOU : ) Middle School was a lot harder, socially, kids start being more popular for their clothes, their looks, thei...Expand for more
r friends, etc Teaches are lot tougher, if you're family was struggling, you would get behind, and of course as my parents struggled to stay married or divorce, I was falling further behind... However, I did eventually return to school, at age 37, and get my Bachelor's at 42. GOD is good! Dreams don't have to die... In middle school does ANYONE REMEMBER OUR GYM TEACHER??? She was really strict and had short black hair and she was rumored to be everything and more...( i forgot her name). And of course coming of age; first kiss or holding hands, school fights and school assemblies. Our principle was mr. Vallejo, Edmund Vallejo, a wonderful man. Parties and Sleepovers, bullies....and even a death of student, SUSY RAINS, she was a cute girl that was murdered in Denver, at age 14, she was at Risley I think just for 8th grade. She has apparently went to Denver with a friend and she was found in the park hit on the head. SO sad and I have never forgotten her sweet face. life is not always fair. And LISA MCNAMARA too, she passed away, we are starting to see that life is not like the songs on KDZA Anyone remember the JINGLE BELL ROCK? It was always for a $1000, wow! especially back then! that was like #10, 000 now Well, I would appreciate some e mails or replies, GOD BLESS YOU ALL Veronica Herrera (mata) veelighted7 at aol
