Veronica's Story

I married my husband, Justus on February 13, 1983. We celebrated our 30th anniversary last year! What can I say...he loves me! I'm very fortunate to have him in my life. We have 4 sons and 6 grandchildren (3 boys, 3 girls). My sister,Tammy, who graduated early with the class of 1983, died in June 2003. She leaves behind 1 daughter, Kelly. I passed my Florida State licensure exams in March 2006 and I am now a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I opened a private practice in Palm Coast, FL, in May 2006. I have a website. I can't list it here, but you can search the net under counselor, Palm Coast, FL and that should help you locate it. I am a member of the choirs at my church, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. I am a cantor and lead the singing at the Mass when needed. I occasionally act in plays at my church and have been in a number of small productions. Six years ago, I became a breast cancer survivor. My husband is a 4-year lung cancer survivor. After that, I decided to pursue a long-time dream... to be the lead singer of a band. When I was still in high school, I wrote a few songs. Yeah, I know... I never really talked about that, but a past boyfriend could tell you about the one I wrote for him (if he remembers ;-) After that, I wrote one for my husband (he wasn't yet my husband) which has since been published. It's called "You Taught Me How to Love", written in 1982. In 2010, my 2 youngest sons, Tim and Mike, joined with me to form the ban...Expand for more
d, Tarnished Halo. I have since written many more songs. We have 2 singles "Ode to Harryoke!" and "Not Just on Christmas". We also have a 10-track CD of original music entitled "Decisions". One of the songs on the CD is called "Making Strides" and it is about my breast cancer journey. You can find the official music video on YouTube by searching "Making Strides Daytona". The American Cancer Society used it for their Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign here in our local chapter. We also performed it live for their fundraising efforts in Daytona, in Bunnell, and also in Metro Orlando where we performed it for more than 50,000 participants. In 2012, we shot the music video during the Daytona event. I also wrote a song "32110 Bunnell" for the City of Bunnell here in FL and they have purchased the rights. We have been played on many of the local Flagler County radio stations and we are in daily rotation on Surf 97.3 FM in Flagler Beach, FL. You can listen live on the web if you search the station. The song is also be on our latest album "Crossroads" which we released in December 2013. We do have a website, just search the band name Tarnished Halo and Palm Coast and you should be able to find us and keep up with us. We are also on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, ReverbNation, etc. You can also find our music on iTunes and many other sites where you can download music. If you download music and enjoy ours... THANKS and tell your friends! So, that's what I've been up to since graduation, in a nutshell. :-)
