Veronica's Story
When I left Thomaston I went to school at Boston College in nursing after graduation I moved to NYC for a year worked at Lenox Hill Hospital in dialysis then moved via VW bus (yup - packed my all into it and headed into the sunset) to California - San Francisco to be exact. I worked in dialysis with children mostly and helped to start three different units at UC San Francisco Med Ctr., Calif. Pacific Med Ctr and Lucile Packard Children's Hosp at Stanford Med Ctr. Met my husband when I moved to a small bay side town where I lived in a house with a guy named John and a gal named Yoko - no kidding. My soon to be husband was building a sailboat (a replica of Joshua Slocum's Spray) across the street in what had been the Pacific railroad yard which I helped finish. We lived aboard for 6 y...Expand for more
ears and sailed it to Alaska.
When we arrived back in San Francisco bay from our Alaska trip we adopted the first of our two children- a boy Jesse and six years later a girl Leah. Jesse has a son - Caleb. Leah has now graduated from University of California Santa Cruz and is currently finishing her teacher's certificate training at Dominican University and is job hunting.
Somewhere along the line I taught Lamaze for 9 years - then got my master's in Community Health Administration and Wellness Promotion (when I was 50). The last nine years in MRI/CT/Nuclear Medicine at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford Medical Center. I retired finally on June 14, 2013.
Meanwhile I keep myself busy reading, beading, painting my house and enjoying my 41st year with my husband.
