Vertis's Story
Wow!!! I can't believe that we have been out of high school for almost 30 years!!!!! It's ironic that Anthony Jones has spearheaded a class reunion for 2010 as I had been having this conversation with Jackie, Tommmie, and Forrest in the last few weeks. Great... I am looking forward to seeing everyone again...
As for me...where do I begin... I am currently married to a retired service man. His name is Carlos Daliz. Yes, he is Puerto Rican and Venezuelan. We have been together for 17 years and married for 15 years. We have no children together (by choice) and we both have one son. Yep, it's still only Bird-Willie-who is 31 years old now. We have no grandchildren, however we do have a godchild that has been in our lives since he was 3 weeks old. His name is Jamari.

I met Carlos. In 1993, we moved to Baton Rouge and bought a home and have been here since then. We are currently readying ourselves to put our home on the market, next week as a matter of fact, and move to the San Antonio area to retire. I am still nursing (25 years) and this career has offered me some great opportunites (from teaching to managing) and self satisfaction, except I didn't get rich. However, as with anything there comes a time in life when changes are warranted. My time is now. So by the time that the reunion takes place, I will be a Texan. Though I do not plan to fully retire, it will be nice to go to work because I choose to. So I am putting the big houses and nice cars out of the sandbox for vacation and relaxation. My motto from this point forward, goodbye and good luck to the "Jones". Been there and did that...
