Vic's Story

Life I just got my airplane pilot commercial twin rating and purchased my first Aerostar! It's an incredible airplane that goes 250 mph and will climb to 30,000 feet. I still have the Piper Archer II. I'm doing Angel Flights. Last year I was third in my area for number of flights. Two of my good friends were number one and number two. Maybe I'll whop them now that I have a faster plane. The work thing keeps getting in the way. I was separated and divorced from my wife of 33 years. I made the mistake I believe many make of focusing on work and being successful and not on the personal side of life. I had an indoor heated pool and airplane, but didn't smile too often. I do have two beautiful daughters and three incredible grandchildren...so it was worth it. I got a video of two of them singing happy birthday grandady tonight! My younger brother Tony passed away a few years back. He was only 50 years old. He was an engineer for a small oil and gas company in Birmingham AL. Tony graduated from Mississippi State in Petroleum Engineering. He also received his masters at Mississippi State. We had an argument and...Expand for more
I never settled it with him. Probably my worst mistake in the skeme of things. College: I graduated from University of Southern MS in computer science with honors. I worked in that industry for a number of years and had business success. I'm back working in the oil & gas industry as a consultant. I'm currently on a project in Pensacola FL. The roughnecks call me Mr Vic or Bossman. :-) I started school at Mississippi State in 1970 as a co-op student. It was a wonderful program for me, in that the program let me know that I did not want to work in the electrical power systems industry. I have wonderful memories of State and made many friends. Unfortunately, I've misplaced most of them. I lacked the emotional maturity at the time to focus on my school work. I was an excellent social chairman for my fraternity and also taught Karate for the fraternith. High School Mrs Puckett was an incredible inspiration to me. I believe much of the success I now enjoy came from her believing in me. She also helped both of my younger brothers by finding them at an early age and giving them an algrabra book with assignments.
