Vicki's Story
Life
I've lived in Phoenix since 1987 and still love it. Though, I do question the decision in the summer when it's 115. (Thank God for swimming pools and central air.) I work as an Accounting Manager for a not for profit company. My husband, Dale, is a Customer Service Manager for a large landscape company. Jeremy, my son, works for a software company and Lacey, my daughter, is a photographer. She has 2 children, Joey and Katie, who are the loves of my life.
Lately, I've been missing the simpler life that I grew up with in Bushnell. I miss seeing good friends every day and the stuff we took for grant...Expand for more
ed. Like riding the bus to go to basketball games, the bonfire on Halloween at the Firehall, being able to walk around at night without fear of anything and looking up to see a sky full of stars. Most of all, probably the sense of community. I remember that our concerts and plays were attended by everyone in town whether they had kids in them or not. Here, you're lucky if even the parents go. Usually, most of them don't. Even with this idealized view, I'm always glad to get back home to Phoenix when I do visit Nebraska. Which isn't that often.
I hope all of my old friends from Bushnell are doing well.
