Victoria (Vicki)'s Story
Life
I live and work in SJ; went SCU (while working at Mervyn's from 1973-1979) and graduated in '78. Worked at HP from 1979-1985. Rec'd Paralegal certificate from SCU's Paralegal Institute in '86.
No marriages and no children. I do have 2 outstanding and handsome nephews and 1 adorable grand-nephew. I also have a beautiful god-daughter who lives in Vancouver, WA.
Sadly, my older 3 siblings each had cancer. My 2 sisters were lucky to beat it; my only brother unfortunately lost his battle at the young age of 50 in 1997. It was one of the most enriching experiences to help take care of him in his final days. I urge everyone to make sure they get their tests for cancer, whether it's for breast, prostate, skin, etc. (okay, that's my PSA for a cause!)
College
Attended SCU from 1974-1978. I moved on campus my sophomore year. I lived in San Filippo Hall, third floor (Rm. 314---amazing what my brain cells have retained!), with some great floormates such as Charlotte Joseph-Skaff, Lisa Santana-Bakewell, Susan Anderson-Hughes, E...Expand for more

Returned to SCU for my paralegal certificate and been in the legal field since 1986.
Workplace
I began working at Mervyn's at the end of my junior year of high school in 1973. I was lucky to work at Mervyn's all through college (with full benefits!) til I got my first job at Hewlett-Packard in 1979. I worked at HP til 1985. Many of us at Mervyn's were working our way through school, such as Kathy Carreno, Ed Soares, Ed Utterbroek, Yolanda Hightower, Sherri San Filippo, et al. HP was a great place...especially DTD! We had a marvelous group; Kay McConnell-Butler, Stevan Butler, Rob Mendesdacosta, Andy Tasnady, Russ McBrien, Ron Tyler, etc. I was really lucky!!
I worked at several law firms in San Jose, Palo Alto and San Francisco. Then I morphed from being a paralegal to office manager to an executive assistant. As an EA, I still keep my hand in the legal area, while working through lots of other projects. It's stimulating, busy and enjoyable.
