Vicki's Story
Life
In 1965 I moved from Canada to the US and after a few interim moves settled in Huntington Beach, California known as "Surf City, USA". No, I don't surf but I love the beach, especially in the winter when it's less crowded. We lived in that beautiful city for 45 years until we moved to Mission Viejo to be closer to our daughters. My husband, Gil, whom I sadly lost in 2021, and I have six children, four sons and two daughters, and are blessed with sixteen grandchildren ranging in age from thirty-six to nineteen and five great-grandchildren.
I work as an accountant for a small CPA firm that's pretty much a family business, my two daughters, also accountants, work with me. I'd be retired by now if I didn't love my job so much and I am free to come and go as the mood strikes.
In 2003 I visited Ottawa after almost forty years and had a marvelous weekend reunion with my four oldest, and yes longest, friends Lynndal Holtz Conway, Janice Whyt...Expand for more
e Fochuk, Colleen Conway Van Horn and Betty Anne Driscoll Brown. We all started out together in Manor Park and attended elementary and high school together before loosing touch. It was the most amazing time, we visited all our old houses and haunts and by the end of the weekend it was as though time had really stood still. We still correspond regularly. After everywhere I've been and everything I have seen I can truly say this was the most memorable vacation I've ever had. This is going to sound like an add, but Classmates held the missing link!!!!!! If you ever get the chance to hook up with an old friend don't let the opportunity slip past - the memories are irreplaceable. Don't know what the future holds, still try to stay active and keep the brain sharp, take the occasional trip (my kids won't let me travel alone anymore) go into the office a few days a week and spend time with my family and friends. Life has been very good to me!!!
