Vicki's Story
Life
Wow - what a journey since leaving high school. I can't say that I really regret anything although probably, like most of you, the years since high school have been filled with highs and lows as well as successes and failures. I am truly blessed to have the family that I have. Even though I find myself single again, I am surrounded by the love of my sons, all of their wives and my grandchildren. And I don't believe for a minute that I look or behave like a grandmother - so there!!! Would love to re-connect. I still live in Capo Beach. Never could leave this area that I call home.
College
I actually attended several colleges: Pomona College, then Grossmont Community College while waiting to be admitted to University of Calif. Irvine, then to Saddleback College for my nursing degree and on to University of Redlands to complete my Bachelor's Degree. Those who know me will appreciate that I have 2 BS Degrees and won the Bull Award for Nursing... My Masters' Degree is in Natural Health, or voodoo nursing as so...Expand for more
me have said. I also have a more traditional graduate degree - a Master of Science in Nursing with an emphasis on Integrative Health. Then I think I'm done with this school stuff! Well, maybe for a few weeks, anyway...
Workplace
I'm currently the Manager for Emergency Services at a busy emergency department in Orange County. I have a horrendous commute to work but the place that I work is like my second family. I've been an ER nurse for well over 20 years now and wouldn't work as a nurse in any other department. I'm also an accomplished international public speaker, which probably won't surprise anyone since I've always had something to say!
For fun
I have discovered the wonderful world of sailboat racing. Usually, we are an all-woman crew but occasionally allow a token man aboard. I've done the Newport-to-Ensenada race on a very "rustic vessel" (no head) and have also double-handed a race around Catalina twice with another emergency nurse. It's a great sport, although anything out on the ocean is terrific!!
