After high school, I went to Michigan Tech to study Engineering. I wanted to teach but was discouraged from it by high school teachers & my parents. I met my husband and we married at the end of my third year right after he graduated. He stayed on to get his Masters so I could continue my education. After taking a computer programming class, I realized Engineering wasn't for me! I also wasn't really ready to buckle down so went to school part-time while Chuck finished his Masters. After he graduated, we moved to Holland, MI so he could take an Engineering job with a Consulting Firm there. I got a job as an Engineering Records Clerk. Our first daughter. Katrina, was born a little over a year later. Our 2nd, Rebecca, was born 3 years later. By then, I was working for a computer programming company that designed software for the private warehousing industry. I was travelling around the country helping the clients setup their systems. Shortly after, I started attending night classes at Grand Valley State in Computer Science. I had 6 credits left to graduation when the opportunity came up to move back to the U.P.
