Vincent's Story

For those of you who remember the class of 1985; I was part of the "CHAT Gang" (Cabais, Harsh, Abraham & Thompson). I probably have the reputation for being "Mr. Casanova". My relationships have always been extreme. However, most of you who remember me knew that Martial Arts was the main focus of my life. I started teaching, privately at first, in 1984. I opened my first school in Kihei, Maui in 1993. After which, I moved to Missouri in January 1997 and opened my first facility there. I've been operating my schools (Shaolin Lohan School of Kung Fu) in this state since then. I have created many new Kung Fu Instructors since 1997 and I have also developed a nationally recognized 'Lion and Dragon Dance Troupe' (Shaolin Lohan Pai Lion Dance Troupe) from these schools. I had a very busy and complex life since I graduated from KCCS. I joined the US Air Force with my best friend James Harsh in October 1985. We both were both in Basic Training together at Lackland AFB (San Antonio, TX) until we parted to separate Tech Schools and also separate permanent bases after the completion of our training. During my first permanent station at Tinker AFB (Oklahoma City, OK), I definitely started to miss Jim's company. Even though we would do our best to stay in-touch. Out of the blue I was contacted by Michelle Thompson and we both decided to go together and visit Jim in Tucson, Arizona. Well... suffice to say, Michelle and I fell in love on the trip and we got married pretty quickly. This is what ultimately may have been our first mistake. We were married for 7 1/2 years. After I got ...Expand for more
out of the Military, we moved back to Hawaii in May 1990. I got a chance to spend more time with John Louthan from our class and eventually Jim Harsh moved back to Hawaii also. After being back in Hawaii for 6-8 months, that is when I started to complicate our marriage. I don¿t want to go into it, but I was the one who was wrong. We had a rough marriage during this time but I do not regret our marriage at all. I still care deeply for Michelle. Not just because we had our first child together "Brandon-Lee A. Cabais" (go figure on the name) but because she always did her best. We are also both grandparents now which is definitely an odd feeling since we are both still young. After Michelle and I divorced, and I'm not sure exactly how this happened, I married Kapane Sproule. We were married for 2 years and boy was it rough. I guess I still wasn't ready to be married even though I wanted to be. Thank God we never had any children together. This was probably the greatest mistake I made concerning relationships. Enough about that though. On 08 November 1997, I married the absolute "Love of my Life", Brandi. She has been the most supportive partner I could ever have imagined. She and I have a son together (Logan Elmer V. Cabais) and she had a previous son (Patrick) from a teen pregnancy who I am glad to call my own as well. We have moved all over the state of Missouri because of my schools and now reside in Saint Louis, Missouri. Are we done moving for now? Only time will tell. However, I think I have found my root here in St. Louis. At least, until I move back to Hawaii.
