Sure seems like an eternity ago since I was a student at Grant St.Elementary School. It was the time if the great depression when I was a student there.Hazel Christie was principal. She was very strict and no doubt your worst night mare could be ,ending up in her office which I was very careful to never allow that to happen to me. I have nothing but good memories of my years there. I will turn ninety years of age next April and have lived a very full and very rewarding life.Looking back my life has been like most people not with out some struggle and heart ahe,but all so many times of great joy and Happiness.I was very young when I was married to Melvin Henderson and as a young couple we were faced with the threat of World War 2 .and he was drafted into the United States Navy. That was one of the times that it seemed as though my world was crashing down around me.,but we managed to get through those terrible times ,and the reality of what was happening,and how it was touching our lives. The cold hard fact of seperation as a young person was very difficultbut . The war ended and he came home ,and that was a time to be thankful but many of our dearest friends werenot so blessed. The Lord blessed us with four wonderful children ,three daughters and one Son. Our son also served in the U S Navy as did our one Daughter.Milvin Passed away in August of 1983 after a long lingering ilness with M S.
