Viveca D's Story
Life
I married my childhood sweetheart from down the block, Herb Scott (class of 66) and now we are living in Hawaii (Herb was an Air Force officer while stationed there). We now have 10 grandchildren between us,6 boys and 4 girls combined. I have done quite a bit of traveling before marriage and quite a bit more with my husband. I attended my husbands 40th class reunion in Oct 2006. I am still short, but much of my shyness is gone :). I love traveling, photography, cooking, reading, surfing (the net), listening to music (jazz & oldies mostly), helping the less fortunate, and maintaining old friendships. I have a degree in Public Administration, minored in counseling. I took courses in real estate, RE appraising, taxes and Investment trading (the stock market & Currency)and presently I am learning about Feng Shui, Ikebana & photograghy. I would like to have a career in public speaking and writing. I discovered I have a talent for it while employed at Mobile Area Water. We have our own small business dealing with finances, investment trading and we own rental property. We share our knowledge openly with family and friends. I enjoy meeting new people and learning new things. Life is wonderful and I have been blessed in many ways. I believe in paying it forward or giving back what I have received to be successful and blessed in life.
Workplace
I have moved from Mobile, Al to Honolulu, Hawaii. I am not currently working and enjoying the stressless life here. We have an investing and trading business and do pretty well.
I enjoying walking to the beach, which is close to my house while listening to a meditation tape.
If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the living room dining areas and add on a glass enclosed central atrium with plants, koi pond and waterfall.. My dream home would be centered around the principles of feng shui.
If I won $100 million, I'd give 30 million of it to young children who are less fortunate and the elderly to help them because of the tight times, then spend the rest on investments, traveling and education.
I listen to some smooth jazz with some raspberry zinfadel, meditate, and listen to some Yanni to relax and get away from it all.
I always wanted to be a Teacher when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a strange idea. As it turns out, they were right.
The biggest surprise in my life is ending up living in Hawaii and married to my childhood sweetheart.
If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have an at home office, play some Yanni to create my atmosphere, and an endless supply of raspberry lemonade to be able to deal with the day-to-day.
My inspiration comes from my mother, my godparents and my grandmother. I also derived some things from the older people who had stories of real life and words of wisdom.
I would love to see Mrs Patrizio, my 1st grade teacher again. She for some reason took me under her wing being the smallest person in the class and having a...Expand for more
n "ugly" first name that I wasn't used to answering to.
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Carol Whitlock and Ed Bradley from WDAS, because Carol was a good true friend & Ed Bradley was always trying to get me to be in radio becuase of my voice and the ability to speak well.
I am already truly happy and living where I want to be with Herb. Life is just so calm, with love and support in many ways.
I only like basketball, and soceer. I really don't care for reality TV, to me it's being nosey and airung the bad traits about oneself, except for Amazing Race. I love small lap type dogs and exotic cats. My obsession is plants, antiquesm spending time with my husband and being a part of my grandchildrens lives.
If I could improve my home, I'd remodel to fit the feng shui way of living to create harmony and keep the chi (energy) moving and add on a garden in the center of my home, so that all rooms meet at a central tranquil location. My dream home would be in Hawaii with Mountains in the background , the ocean just a few minutes walk away and all the flowering trees I can find.
How to have more patience and to always support them in their endeavors. If you give them a good basic foundation to living life and thinking of others, then thats more than half accomplished when you see their present lives and they have a deja vu moment.
My first crush was Mr. Washington at Heston School. He had a nice smile and had patience.
If I won $100 million, I'd give 1/3 of it to disadvantaged children and the elderly, then spend the rest on investments, travel and random acts of kindness.
My current age is 58. When I was 12, I thought that people my age would be very cynical about life and their experinces. I was so completely fooled and taken aback.
My best friend would tell you I'm assertive, outgoing and very educated, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as quiet, reserved and quite shy.
My one do over would have been to get my RN degree and go into the Air Force to travel the world and settle in Hawaii or Europe.
I have always been a rather good dresser with style and taking care to wear hemlines that are good for my age and height - because I am still short.
I share my home with my husband Herb, which I find comfortable and decorated rather nicely mainly to my tastes with the consideration of feng shui.
In 10 years, I hope to be very financially secure. I'm going to get there by trading the currency market and some option strategies.
My oldest friend is Sharon McClain whom I met in Jr HS. Our lives paralleled in similar situations with our children, college, interests, and sometimes just being crazy.
At my reunion, I would surprise people by being married to herb Scott and having lost some weight.
My most remembered moment is seeing Pres JFK as he came out the White House with his wife while I was in Washington DC visiting my uncle who worked at the Pentagon.
