Vonya's Story
Life
Since I left School I have been doing a variety of things. I lived in Germany until early 1970, then came to the Boston, Massachusetts area where I met and married my husband, Bob Perham, a Bostonian born and bred. Needless to say, I have lived here ever since and will probably be here until I die.
I have worked at a number of things, mostly clerical, since I left school without my degree. Money had run out and I simply never got around to going back, though they say it's never too late. Perhaps I will still finish a degree, though not in German Language.
My first daughter, Virginia (Gina), was born in 1978, followed 19 months later by Jacqueline (Jacquie). When they were in their teens, we took in two other girls, both older than Giona and Jacquie. Jen and the...Expand for more
n Megan. Both were born in 1977 and came from troubled families.
Bob passed away in 2000, and things have been a bit rough at times. We all miss him a great deal.
I have four grandchildren. Megan's son, Devlin, is the oldest. He turned 8 years old in July. Gina's daughter, Acacia, will be 8 years old next week (October 22,2005). Jen's daughters are Rebecca, aged 3 years, and Julie, who will be one year old November 18.
I am currently working as a paratransit driver and getting things in order to go back to school in January at Salem State College here in Salem, Massachusetts. I plan to major in Cultural Liberal Arts, taking courses in languages, theater, music, literature and graphic arts. Once I get that BA then I will consider whether to go on to other things.
