Waldo H.'s Story

Life Married to Ginny (Martin) (Class '63) We are blessed with two children (Cherilyn/ married 2004 and a kindergarten teacher and now at Columbia University pursuing Ph.D.) and Bethany (a senior at Columbia University, 22. We live in Naples, FL (Bonita Spgs. mailing address), and the Navesink River Road, Middletown Twp, (Rumson mailing address) NJ (between Bon Jovi on west and former home of Geraldo Rivera, east); Ginny bought the Valentin Estate after a Southeby's auction default and did a fabulous job decorating/designing-she is fantastic doing this type of work; completion is 99% (just type in: valentin navesink). Graduated from law school and graduate law school (N.Y.U., LL.M. Taxation) Have practiced as CPA and tax attorney. Taught at NYU Grad Tax School for a year and had...BERT HASBROUCK... as a student; saddened about his death but will always recall having a student in my class FAR SMARTER than me. (You have no idea just how astute Bert was.) Now, I am primarily involved in investment banking and finance. After our son Craig died in 1981,(he was a healthy little boy), I pursued seminary and have a M.Div. (New Brunswick)as well as a Th.M. and Th.D./Ph.D. (Doctor of Theology) from Trinity and Dallas Theological Seminaries. Ginny retired from teaching in the early 70's (she has a Masters, Magna Cum, from Florida State University) and now leads several Bible studies. She amazes me with an inability to show her age despite living with me...(been called her "dad"). Used to do heavy travel but I spend more time at home... though I am sure my nuisance-traits cause many to "like it better the o...Expand for more
ther way." Once again, I plan to continue my crusade to have a major summer baseball league named after SENIOR Walter Hennessy who was really the founder on the Inter-County League and formative years' glue. (I once heard he paid for trophies out of his own pocket.) He remains one of my heroes down to this day. Do feel free to call us as all of our "numbers" are listed. So often I pray for you collectively...and your families as well. Blessings, Wally (Ginny, Cherilyn and Bethany). (...and would love to hear from you.) College Never gave Michigan State a chance but the lesson learned from missed opportunity was life-changing. Loved Florida State University and New York University was fantastic. Law school/ and graduate law school (LL.M/Taxation) in the "City" was the best. Really enjoyed my MSU roommates, one was a famous NFL football player and author. Workplace From frying fish at Jeans Beans, washing cars at Miller Pontiac-Cadillac, driving a taxi, painting houses, fixing and selling used cars to teaching in a public school system--- these were progressing labors of love. From practicing with a large CPA firm (not too bad) to associating with a giant NYC/NJ law firm, becoming a law-partner, spinning off with others to form two law firms, then winding up in investment banking (mergers and acquisitions) and serving as an estate fiduciary for one of the wealthiest...; hold on there...strange....to run the race and not know what prize "placing" in the race would REALLY bring...but all is not gloom... as I have a wonderful, loving family that I adore. Military ROTC (I was a real disaster). .
