Waller's Story
Waller's schools and careers:
Graduated from Damascus High School, Damascus, Georgia in 1950; Attended and graduated from North Georgia Trade and Vocational School at Clarkesville Georgia, majoring in Electronics Repair an Servicing;
Attended UNIV. OF OMAHA, majoring in Economics.
Waller's Military career in the U.S. Air Force:
Enlisted in 1952.....Aviation Cadet training at Ellington Air Force Base near Houston, Texas,
Graduated and received commission as 2nd Lieutenant, 1953...Met and married my wife, Peggy
at Ellington Air Force Base in October,1953.
8 missions over Korea in the B-29 from Kadena Air base in Okinawa1953-54
......and approximately 1 year as Navigator/instructor in KC-97 Tankers at Robins Air Force Base, Warner Robins, Georgia, with duty over North America, Iceland, England, Spain and North Africa.....1954-55
8 + years as Instructor/Radar/Navigator in B-47 bombers at Lincoln Air Force Base, Nebraska - 1956-1965 with duty in Spain, and England.
Two 6-months tours with 108 combat Bombing missions over South Viet Nam from bases in Guam, Kadena Air Base in Okina...Expand for more
wa, and U Tapao Air base in Thailand in B-52D Bombers ....Radar/Navigator/Bombardier
Radar Navigator Bombardier instructor/ --Standardization Board instructor-evaluator in the B-52H aircraft at Kincheloe Air Force Base, Michigan.
Retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1972, in the rank of Major, after a 20-year career as a Radar Navigator-Bombardier....(In the B-29 Bomber as Navigator...B-47 Bomber and B-52H Bomber as Radar/Navigator/Bombardier.
(Retired from the U.S. Air Force April 1, 1972). at Kincheloe Air Force Base, Michigan in the rank of MAJOR.
Following retirement from the USAF, I held several jobs:
Sales Manager--Scott Electronics Supply corporation, Lincoln, Nebraska.
International Marketing Manager, Goodall Electric Co., Ogallala, Nebraska
Various jobs in sales and marketing.........
I now reside in Lincoln, Nebraska.....near our 4 daughters, 8 grandchildren and 18 GREAT grandchildren.
We spend the winter in our little "home away from home" in south Texas, near other retirees who have also
"graduated" from the "working class:" to the "Old and retired class"...........
