Walt's Story
Life
After graduating from BRHS I moved to Texas. I lived down there for three years before moving back to New Jersey. While in Texas I joined the Marine Corps Reserve, I enrolled at DeVry Inst. of Tech, and I started to work for Cigna Ins. Company. When I moved back to New Jersey I transfered to the Reserve Unit in West Trenton and I was able to transfer to the Cigna Office in Marlton, NJ. I work with Cigna from 1987 until 1994. I left Cigna to join the Camden City Police Department. I've been a Police Officer in the City of Camden since 1994 until the present time. I was married in 1995 and divorced in 2009. I have two sons Ryan, age 13 and Walter age 8. Both of my sons reside with me. I'm currently living in Gloucester County, NJ.
Workplace
I joined the Camden Police Department in September of 1994. Since, I've been working in Camden we have made the top spot as the most dangerous City to live in three times and have been in the top five the past ten years. There is never a boring day in the City. I've worked in the Patrol Division and now I'm assigned to our Supplemental Patrol. I'm a member of the ESU "Emergency Services Unit" Drive Team. There are six of us on the Dive Team. We are all Trained in Dive Rescue/Recovery and underwater bomb detection. In the fall of 2005 we are expecting to get two new Dive/Patrol ...Expand for more

Military
My career in the United States Marine Corps started in December 1986 when I signed the dotted line. I enlisted while I was living in Texas. I went to Boot Camp in San Diego, CA for three months. After Boot Camp I then went to Camp Pendleton, CA for additional training for a month. After my training I came back to Texas and joined the Reserve Unit in Fort Worth, Tx. I stayed with them until I moved back to New Jersey in 1989. While in New Jersey I transfered to the Marine Corps Reserve Unit in West Trenton. Our Reserve Unit was activated for Desert Storm in December 1992. During our deployment we first flew to Camp Pendleton, CA to get all of paper work filled out and the proper medical screening completed. From there we flew to Okinawa Japan on December 24, 1992. Merry Christmas!!! While overseas we trained on mainland Japan (Mt. Fuji) as well as Okinawa. We never made it to Irag do to the War being short lived. We ended up staying in Japan for about nine months. We finally came home at the end of August 1993. After my initial enlistment expired I joined up for another three years. I left the Reserve Unit in West Trenton and joined a Newly formed Public Relations Unit. I also worked for the Defense University in Washington DC during there Joint Forces Courses. I finally left the Marine Corps in 1998.
