Walter's Story
Constructed homes and buildings from 62 to 72, College at night until 65, full time at Villanova U, then Penn State for more concrete courses, Met my future wife Peg Purcell in 1965, we sailed most Sunday mornings after 6:00 am church. We married in 68, started our 4 bedroom 2 story brick home in Aston Township, had 3 beautiful children, lived there in 1972, and moved permanently to the Virgin Islands in 1973. Sailed a lot, worked on all 3 islands, couple of accidents, landed in the sea once, kids swam in age groups from 74 to 90 in 50-meter pool....Expand for more
They graduated at the top of their classes, went to American U., U of Pennsylvania and Georgetown. Sandy and Tom have Law degrees, she learned fluent Russian and spent 15 years and 44 trips around the world, Tom continues to do Ironmen and long-distance events, especially swimming. Our Gail was 20 when she was killed by a 19 yr old drunk driver she and her friends were trying to keep sober, in his own home. We passed 50 years of living and working in the VI, Peg and I swim 7 days a week, year-round. Most of our crew has been with us many years.
