Wanda's Story
Life
After attending a couple of colleges (Boston University and the University of Tennessee), I finished my degree at Northeastern (BA in English). In 1973, Bill Fischer and I were married at the Boston College chapel (he's a BC grad), then we moved to Worcester, where Bill went to UMass Worcester for medical school. He's a family practitioner in Schodack, NY. I am director of public relations for Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital in Schenectady, and I also do a folk music program on WAMC-FM, which broadcasts to seven...Expand for more
states and Canada, every Saturday night (since 1982). I also do quite a bit of free-lance writing for a number of publications. We have two children--Becky, who's 22 and a new teacher (sixth-grade reading) in Springfield, Mass., and Tim, who's 20 and still in college. We also have my sister's two kids living with us now. We still sing and play the guitar (sometimes). My mother is still in Weymouth. And yes, even though I now live in Yankee country, I am still rooting for the Red Sox (got the gray hairs to prove it!).
