Wanda's Story

Life The following is my life after graduation from Palo Duro High on May 28, 1965. I worked after high school. Nothing really exciting. My mom divorced my dad in 1967 and remarried in July 1968. My mom, step dad, my two younger sisters (Anna and Vicki)and I and my 3 month old daughter Molliann, moved to Dallas on 11/22/69. My sister Carole (1966) and Dean Tschappat (1966) were married in Amarillo in November 1968 and moved to Lubbock, Texas. I met my husband, Robert Taylor, in May 1972 and we were married on Sept 16, 1972. We have 3 children. Molliann (46) has been married to Chris Hamby for 26 yrs. They moved to Mendocino, CA on Feb 14th 2001. Our two sons Robert Wayne (41 and single) and Michael (40) live in Rockwall, TX where I live. Michael is married, but is getting a divorce. On June 6, 2011 my daughter, Molliann, delivered my first biological grandson, John Robert Hawthorne Hamby. I was there for the delivery and stayed to heIp Molli. And there are also 5 grand dogs, Sadie, Littles, Moses, Gabriel and Radar and my Kitkat. Robert & I divorced in October 1978, but remarried on July 1, 1983. We would add both times together, so July 1, 2005 was 28 years. Robert passed away on Sept 16, 2005, 33 years to the day of our 1st marriage. I live in Rockwall, TX (25 miles east of Dallas). I retired from the Dallas County Court System on 9/30/03 after 23 years of service. I enjoy fishing, cats, working in my flower garden, taking walks, christian music, women's ministry and my # 1 LOVE is My Lord Jesus Christ. I love my ministry through our church choir at First Baptist Church in Rockwall. I also sing in our Senior Adult choir, The First Family Singers. I have been a Christian since age 13. I have found quite a few of our classmates online and I hope to hear from some of my other classmates from PDHS. My mom and step dad moved to Wasilla, AK in June 1990 and lived there for 6 yrs. In March 1997 they moved to Aberdeen, SD and in June she found out she had kidney cancer. In November 1997 they moved down here to Rockwall so they would be closer. She passed away on March 2, 1999. She was a great Christian mother. I know some of you had met her while living in Amarillo. She welcomed all of our friends into our home all the time. On June 1, 2002 my step dad married, Betty, a good Christian lady. They live in Wylie, Texas. My stepdad passed away suddenly on December 23, 2015. A shock to us all. Let me know what you have been up too...Expand for more
in the last 50 yrs. I can't believe it has been 50 YEARS!! I was able to attend our 45th Class Reunion on Labor Day Weekend 2010 and had a wonderful time. Also the 50th last year, 2015. School There is not much to my School Bio, except that I did graduate high school. If it wasn't for my mom helping me with my homework, then I don't know if I would have passed. She was the greatest. I enrolled in a school in Dallas sometime in 1978. It was called Dallas Skills Center. I was able to advance my typing, English, and math skills. It was for six months and when I graduated they were able to place me into a job position where I could continue to improve my skills. It was a good place for me to meet others and to get more work experience. Workplace This is where my OLD BRAIN is going to have to work hard. I started working during my senior year at D & S Pharmacy Drugstore in Amarillo after school and on weekends. Back then I guess I would have been called a "Soda Jerk." I could make a pretty good hamburger too. I do remember a cup of coffee was only 5 CENTS and you received FREE refills. I had baby sitting jobs also. Then after I graduated in 1965 I worked for a year at Colonial Cafeteria over in Tascosa territory. Sometime in early 1968 I remember working at K-Mart. Then I decided on Beauty School. I tried that for about three month, but was side tracked. On August 15, 1969 at 12:25pm my daughter, Molliann, was born. I worked at Duncan Donuts for about 2 months then my family and I moved to Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1969. I found a job at a Finance Company in early 1970 and worked there for about a year. From 1971 to 1980 I worked in a Day Care. On August 11, 1980 I started my job as a Deputy Clerk for the Court System in Dallas and retired 9/30/2003. I am loving retirement very much. My computer keeps me relaxed. I don't blow off steam very often. Sometimes I think I have too much patience. I share my home with my son's dog, Radar and my cat Kitkat. Robert moved to N California where his sister and hubby now own a B&B (Fensalden Inn) that was owned by his mom, Lyn, before she passed away February 2011. My daughter and family moved back to Texas last June 2015. They are living in the Tyler area at this time and have started a Flipping Home business. They bought their 1st flip house around September 2015 and are hoping to put it on the market soon. It is in Lindale, Texas. My grandson, John, will turn 5 yrs old on June 5th.
