Warren's Story
Life
I left high school in my senior year to join the US Navy. My last school was Pasadena High School which was located on the campus of Pasadena City College during the time I attended. I'm also registered at Muir High School because many of my friends graduated from there (I was an out of district transfer to Pasadena High School and attended Washington Junior High School before going to Pasadena High School to participate in ROTC).
I was a Quartermaster (navigation, communications and helmsman) in the Navy and spent the majority of my time on the USS Finch DER 328 patrolling the North Pacific Barrier (1958-1961). We were home ported in Seattle Washington, Pearl Harbor Hawaii, and Treasure Island San Francisco during my tour of duty on the Finch)
After I was discharged from the Navy in 1961 I joined the Merchant Marines and sailed on the SS Orion Comet (Supertanker), sold cars, worked in a Savings and Loan, and became the Resident Director for the Episcopal Church Home for Children in Los Angeles. I married Donna Marie Bowman in 1966 and went back to school (Chaffey College, Los Angeles State College, and University of Southern California where I finally ended up with a Masters degree in 1974). My daughter (Lara Scena Marshall) was born shortly after my graduation from USC in 1974.
While working as Deputy Work Furlough Administrator for the Los Angeles County Probation Department, I started volunteering at the department's credit union (Courts & Records Federal Credit Union) and ended up going to work there in the mid-70's. My caree...Expand for more
r in credit unions went from there to Anaheim Area Credit Union in Anaheim CA and then I became the President/CEO of the Credit Union at Stanford University for fifteen years. I left Stanford Federal Credit Union in 2000 to become the President/CEO of it's wholly owned subsidiary CyberBranch Corporation. CyberBranch was acquired by CGI Corporation in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in May 2001 and I worked as a Vice President for that company primarily responsible for North American Marketing for the Cooperative Financial Institutions Business Unit until July 2003.
I consulted for several financial institutions for a few years and retired in 2006. Shortly after my retirement, my wife (Donna Bowman Marshall) of 40 years passed away after several years of illness. I miss her but keep myself busy by traveling and visiting family in Virginia and California. I live in Montreal and in Calimesa (outside of Palm Springs) and spend as much time as possible with my daughter Lara Scena, her husband Aaron Stetler, and my granddaughter Zoe Marie in Woodbridge Virginia. I love Jazz music and never miss the Montreal International Jazz Festival each year which turns out to be held within walking distance of my loft in Montreal. All and all I feel that I'm living a charmed life!
In the middle of the pandemic I sold my loft in Montreal and moved from California to Manassas Virginia to live with my Daughter, Son in Law and Grand Daughter. I'm 81 now (2021) and still going strong. I still own my residence in Calimesa California and plan to visit it in early 2022.
