Wayne's Story
Life
After graduation from AHS I did a brief stint in USAF, continued playing music professionally, worked for City of Oakland and continued formal education. In the mid-70's I got involved in real estate investment and found that to be a rewarding and productive pastime. I continued my education and wound up with degrees in Real Estate, Fire Science and Business. In 1975 I married my one and only, Rita Pruyn (AHS grad '73). We have been married 32 years and have a daughter Erica (30) and son Damon (28). Over the years I've lived in Oakland, Sunol, Lafayette and for the past 19 years we've lived in Alamo. I got into the Fire Service in Berkeley at LBL in 1977 and just retired from the Fire Department, ranked Captain, in August 2002. A highlight over the last 30 years was putting a band back together; "Slim Chance" and doing a CD called "Fat Chants". The band was made up of old friends, including Max Haskett(passed 2001) and Ross Gershenson both from AHS. Jerry Clark from Berkeley and David Li...Expand for more
otta from El Cerrito, Tom Grable from Fremont, Randy Sheppard from Richmond, and Terry Hanck from Chicago. The music ranges from jazz, to R&B, soul, blues, New Orleans funk and even some Mardi Gras "Indian" music. But guess what: It's all "Lucky 13 East Bay grease." The CD is pistol-hot, dance and party music. We expect to get another CD out in 2008. Now, back to the day-to-day, Rita and I own and operate a 20 acre winegrape (Cabernet Sauvignon) vineyard in Lake County, CA. We released our premier vintage in March 2007 which was our 2003 Estate Reserve Cab. Future releases include 2006 Cab, 2007 White Cab, 2007 premium Cab and 2007 estate reserve Cab. In general; LIFE IS GOOD!!! I think often about the valuable friendships, relationships and good times I had growing up in Albany; and wonder "What ever became of...?". I will always take the time to catch up with friends from the old AHS. Anyway, feel free to check in with me any time.
Let me know how things are going with you. Talk to you soon.
