Wendy's Story
Life
After high school, I attended Hartnell JC and recieved my AA. Immediately I moved to So. Cal and started working at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in 1986, where I currently work as a Project Manager in Capital Projects. I met my soon-to-be ex-husband, Steve, in 1988. We were together 21 years and married 18 years. We are now going through a divorce (5-2009). Guess we are now a statistic. Sucks! I have two sons, Dylan (16) and Tyler (13), who are wild/crazy but oh so loveable! I have moved a few times but currently own a home in Riverside, which we love! I have been involved in many diverse hobbies, from breeding/showing Siberian Huskeys, before kids-Body Building (on ESPN...no steroids!), training an Arabian horse, completely refurbishing our home, coaching/team mom for my kids sports (soccer/baseball), dirt bikes, etc. It's been busy but fun! I still keep in touch with friends from KC and have made many special friends in So Cal.
Recently have had two terrible losses, my best friend ever Becky Armer Trotter (9/29/08) and my father, Kenneth Emberson (10/16/08). My heart is broke and I will miss them both more than words can say, but I know they are watching over me which gives me some peace.
School
I started my school carreer at Sanborn Elementry in Salinas, CA. I then went to a junior high for 7th grade in Salinas, and transferred to Greenfield Elementry for my 8th grad year. That is where I met a lot of friends who I am still friends with today (Becky, Kathy, Christina, and others). Moving from Greenfield I went on to good old King City High School. I spent four years there enjoying hanging with my friends (Becky, Kathy, Tammy and the rest), FFA, Cheerleading, Leadership, and much more. If I had to do anything different it would to have had more confidence in myself, dated more instead of having just one boyf...Expand for more
riend and enjoyed the whole high school time more. From KC I moved on to Hartnell College. I spent two very fun years there getting in trouble with Becky, Kathy and Frida. It was a blast...no regrets there. After getting my AA I decided to move into the work force and here I am at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Fontana, CA. Because I am a glutton for punishment I decided to go back to college and get my Bachelor of Science in Business Management. I began in 2004 and graduated this fall (2006) from UOP. What I will do with that degree remains to be seen. It's just nice to have it.
College
All I can say about college is that I had all the fun there I missed out in high school and still got my degree. Thanks Becky, Chris, Kathy, Frida and the rest for the great memories! After 20 years I decided to go back to school (while still working) and obtain my Bachelors in Business Management.
Workplace
I started working at Kaiser Hospital, Fontana on April 15 (yep tax day) 1986. (18 yrs...yikes!) I started in the Nutritional Offices, then to CDRP (Chemical Dependency Recovery Program), then to Hospice. After Hospice I went to Nursing Administration where I cover the areas of Maternal Child Health. Let's just say I went from food, to drugs, to death, and then to birth. From there I went to work in Hospital Administration, Facilities Development Office as a Facilities Development Manager (Project Manager)where we administratively managed all the remodels, new facilities/buildings, etc. I have always loved this area of the industry and have finally made it here. :) I now work in the Kaiser Capital Projects Department where I still work on remodels and build outs but more from the construction side. It's a great job. Kaiser Hospital is a great place to work. Can't beat all the benefits...........7 weeks of vacation -- Yippee!
