Wendy's Story
Life
I married my first love from 8th grade. We always hear its kind of like a fairy tale. We have been married for almost 10 years now, and still incredibly happy. I have two sons ages 8 & 6. I have lived in Florida, South Carolina, & Hawaii (4 years there) since I married. I have visited Japan, Singapore, & Guam for vacations. We came back to California in 2003, and now moved to Washington August 2005. I build my own computers and a huge topic of conversation in my house is debates on what upgrades we are going to purchase for our systems. I haven't finished my college degree, it was delayed when I my son started school. I have two years put into a Computer Science degree, and I was a student at San Jose State University until last year. I started working on my degree again, just going at it very slowly. Being a military wife and a mom consumes so much of my time.
School
Highschool in the bay area I had lots of fun. Too much fun in fact. I have memories of friends and enemies that will last a lifetime. Mr. Goldstein helped my life out so much (US History Teacher.)
During the summer of 1992 my best friend Kimberely Joy Hill was murdered. I was promptly moved to the bay area. I think that changed my life a lot. I no longer took crap from anyone. I also finished growing out of my ugly duckling phase.
Middle School, I met my husband who loved me from the day he met me. Yet I was still teased and still afraid to stand up...Expand for more
for myself. In fact I remember picking on someone else just to look "cooler" to people who picked on me. I still regret it.
Elementary School was a nightmare. I still think about finding people from elementary school for some payback. You know who you are. =)
The teacher I remember the most profoundly are Mrs. Chacon 6th Grade. She was great.
Military
Being a Navy wife is a blast. Four years in Hawaii was so much fun. Meeting my husband and our friends in foreign countries is always an adventure. I loved Boat Key in Singapore and what ever club we danced and stumbled out of that night.
Yelling at the LPO about what time MM1 was going to get his arse off the boat...I miss having someone to yell at.
I love Navy submariners. How can you ever be bored with them around? However, when they go out to sea... it broke my heart. My house was full of life every weekend with so many friends and stories. Every weekend new memories were being made, and more stories created to tell the next weekend.
And if I make it to Singapore again... oh yes! Crazy horse (Four Floors of Who...) here I come again! I just like to see everyone freak and run out the door... that was soooo funny. I will never forget Jakobowski smashing shot glasses on the floor.... "Hang loose bebeh's."
Hopefully our new boat will be just as much fun, and the people will be just as great. My barbecue and spa will be all warmed up for everyone. =)
