Wendy's Story

Life This journey called life is always interesting. I graduated from Camrose Comp in 1966. We were the first graduating class who spent all three years of our High School in the newly built Composite High. After High School it was across town to Augustana University for first year of college. There I was blessed to meet Greg Jeglum who I married after University. I spent one year teaching at Sifton School in Camrose and one year at Belvedere School in North Edmonton. After marrying in 1970 ,Greg and I moved to Grande Prairie for 4 years. I taught at Swanavon, Montrose Elementary and Avondale Schools. In 1974 we moved to Drayton Valley and brought our first child into our family. A boy Jason, who is now father to three of my beautiful Granddaughters. Greg was Principal at Elementary B school. Besides mothering, I was teaching and administrating at the Drayton Valley Community Kindergarten. After two years we moved on to Spruce Grove in 1976. Greg had the opportunity to set up, and be the first principal of Millgrove Elementary School. We had our second child a daughter Kim ,who is now mommy to my other two grandchildren ,a little girl and a baby boy. We spent most of our married life in Spruce Grove with a 3 year hiatus to Fort McMurray. There, Greg was principal of Peter Pond Junior High and Fort McMurray Composite. I taught at Westview Elementary school until my newly diagnosed Multiple Sclerosis began to take a toll on my body and I had to resign at Christmas. We ...Expand for more
moved back to Spruce Grove in 1983 and it is here that we spent the remaining years of our marriage. Greg had his first heart attack when our youngest child was seven. He struggled with heart problems for 12 more years. He had two more heart attacks and a quintuple bypass and lived until 1998. We were given the blessing and opportunity to get both of our children through High School and have time to build many memories through wonderful vacations to Hawaii , California and Florida. After his passing, I moved for one year to Calgary. I found you can't outrun grief. It follows where ever you go. So, seven years ago I returned to my friends and family in Spruce Grove where I am enjoying watching my five grandchildren grow and flourish. I spend a lot of time writing and working on my hobbies of Scrapbooking .( you have to scrapbook when you have grandchildren) cardmaking, and reading. That's called my life so far in a capsule. Somewhere in the last 30 years I managed to fit in 12 years of selling Real Estate and 10 years serving on the County of Parkland School Board. I would love to hear from anyone I've met along the way. Its so much fun to reconnect, especially with children I've taught who are all grown up now with families of their own. Its really rewarding to hear of the successes in their lives. I'm delighted to note, that as a result of this website I have reconnected with two of my former students from Camrose. Looking forward to updates on the lives of even more.
