Wendy's Story

Life employed U.S. civil service 6/67-6/69 private co. 6/69-4/70 Dept. of Justice 4/70-12/73 driver, Bi-State Dev. Agency 12/73-1/99 (retired) moved to Las Vegas for 1 yr, returned to St. Louis in '00 Currently drive non-emergency medical transportation. I'm single, like to travel, still close friend of Joanne (Vien) Bonney. We met freshman yr in "multi-purpose" room, Miss Theiss' class. 3 nephews & 1 niece attended DB - Jeff ('83), David ('85), Rob ('86) & Mary ('87) Gudermuth Kind of shy, but when I "warm up" to people, I'm lots of fun. Occasionally would bring a can of sardines for lunch and really "gross out" the gals at my table. (Joanne Vien, Linda Crow, Joan Nahlik, Linda Hoeing and Deanna Schroeder) It was a laugh riot!! I always wanted to be a writer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. I couldn't afford college. My parents couldn't help & I would have to work full time and attend Mizzou full time. Not possible! I like to sleep to relax. The world and all it's problems are locked out. This is tame compared to what kids do now. I used to flip jello cubes across the conveyor belt tunnel. One never knew where they would end up. What a hoot!! I have 2 heroes... my older sisters. They have gone through a lot of heartache in their lives and, despite the troubles, managed to raise a total of 8 kids VERY successfully. I've lived in St. Louis all my life. Moved to Las Vegas in 1999, when I retired. Thought it would be a nice place to live...WRONG. It's a rat-race!! Came back home & picked up where I left off. "Survivor" "Amazing Race", all the "CSI" shows, dogs & horses, nature in general, miniature lighthouse collection. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel it all and add on a deck & screened porch. My dream home would be in Wyoming or Montana. I would like to see either Fr. Rehme, Fr. Zinzer (I called him Fr. What-a-Waste) or Mrs. Lindsay. If I won $100 mill...Expand for more
ion, I'd give 5% of it to DuBourg, then spend the rest on family, friends, animal charities and myself.. Truly happy? I would be living in Wyoming or Montana, raising horses with the love-of-my-life. But I haven't met him yet. My current age is 59. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be really old. I was so completely wrong. My first crush? He lives in Maryland and is married. I met his mother a few years ago. But I haven't seen him since 1964. My best friend would tell you I'm nuts, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as aloof.. Weirdest job? Transit bus driver...the buses are filled with giant granola bars...nuts and fruits and the rest are flakes. I share my home with no one, which I find satisfying. Have had housemates in the past & got "burned". 1 do-over, huh? If I was 16 and knew what I know now, I would've studied harder, earned a full scholarship & attended Mizzou. In 10 years, I hope to be still alive. I'm going to get there by caring about what matters and not "sweat the small stuff". My oldest friend is Joanne. We 'clicked" because we both liked to shop at Penney's (Hampton Village) and Southtown Famous-Barr. Also saw movies at the Avalon Theater. We had a mutual love for strawberry sundaes, too. We have helped each other get through some hard times. She's been a shoulder to cry on and a pal when we want to just "hang out". Her friendship is unconditional...and that's the best kind. I trust her with my life. It's been 45 years...and counting. WOW! We're getting old! My first job was at Steak n' Shake, where I got paid .75 an hour to be a car-hop. What I remember most about it is the tips paid for junior & senior year tuition.. A childhood memory ? Picture it...summertime in south St. Louis... beg Daddy for .25 to buy a Mister Softee cone and spend the evening sitting on the front steps with Diane, my friend who lived 3 doors up the street. We had to be home by dark!
