Life After leaving Fremont High School, I went to Berkeley, majoring in Electrical Engineering. Worked on the Daily Cal, moving up to Business Manager. Finally completed a four-year degree in five. No one seemed to want to employ me, so I went to Syracuse University as a graduate student, at first in Engineering. Got married after my first year, and stayed married for the next fifteen years. I then switched over to an interdisciplinary program to get a doctorate in Physiology, working on hearing in mammals and insects. A job opportunity then came up at Purdue University, where they were building up their neurobiology program. I had an appointment in the Electrical Engineering department, support from neurobiology, and was teaching both subjects. During my first year there, my daughter (only child) was born.
