Bill's Story
Life Summary:
Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1944. My Dad owned Berea Cab and I lived there until 1952 when we moved to a farm in North Eaton, Ohio. We Moved to Artesia, California when I was 10, (1954) then to La Puente, Ca. when I was 12. We moved to San Dimas, Ca. in 1961. I joined the Navy in 1962 and went to boot camp in San Diego, Ca. In April of 1962 I was transferred to Newport, R.I. where I was a Postal Clerk on the base. In June of 1963 I was transferred to Little Creek, Va. to the USS York County LST 1175 which was assigned to the Caribbean Ready Squadron. In October of 1964 I was reassigned to the USS Chilton APA-38 as the ships Postal Clerk until I was Honorably Discharged on January 18th, 1966. I moved back to California and became a Police Officer in Pomona, Ca on February 5, 1966. I was a Patrolman, Traffic Officer, School Resource Officer, Detective and a Sergeant before I was retired with injuries in 1980 That same year I married my current wife, Karen. icycle Store in Milwaukie, Or, from 1980 through 1983 when I closed it due to poor sales and unavailability of stock. I went to work for K-Lines in Lake Oswego, Or. and started as a Driver in 1983. I became a Terminal Manager for them in Medford, Or in 1984. I opened and managed a new terminal in Redding, Ca for K-Lines, (we hauled dry cement to build dams and other large projects like freeways and airstrips) in 1985. In June of 1986 I resigned in good terms from K-Lines to open a Private Investigation agency in Redding, Ca which I operated for 11 years and then retired. I took woodworking courses at Shasta Community College for 4 years and built custom furniture and cabinets for a complete remodel of our house. I am a survivor of pancreatic cancer after receiving surgery, ( a Whipple Procedure ) in March of 2006. I have 5 daughters, Kathy, Cynthia, Graceann, Billie Marie and My youngest (7), Emily. On 3/16/2009 I celebrated 29 years of marriage to my wife and best friend, (Karen). end
