William's Story
Life
After graduation from Ole Miss I was a Navy Fighter/Attack pilot for eight years including almost three years of at sea time and three years forward deployed in Japan. I spent most of my time at sea on the aircraft carrier USS Midway (CV-41) flying A-7E Corsair II. By the end of my Navy time I had flown over 17 different aircraft in 9 different countries.
In 1988 I left the active duty Navy and hired on with Delta Air Lines as a Flight Engineer on the B-727 based in Chicago. I upgraded to First Officer on the B-727 in 1989. In 1990 I transitioned to the B-757/767 aircraft based in Atlanta.
I later became an Instructor Pilot, Senior Instructor Pilot, Fleet Training Manager, and currently the Chief Instructor Pilot for the B-757/767/7ER/-400 aircraft and Director of Curriculum De...Expand for more
velopment.
I have been married for 27 years and have 4 boys, 2 have graduated college, 1 is a professional Firefighter, and my youngest is in his sopmore year in college.
I volunteer a lot of my time as a volunteer Firefighter and EMT (9 years +, nationally certified FF I, FF II, CVE, NFI, EMT-I). I also am heavily involved with the Boy Scouts, American Legion, and Explorer Posts.
During my free time I play golf and compete in shooting activities (high power rifle, pistol, IPSC, IDPA, and cowboy action), complete home repair projects, and thoroughly enjoy the time with my family.
Workplace
I have worked for Delta Air Lines since I left the Navy in '88 and am Senior Captain Instructor Pilot for Domestic and International flying and am also the Director of Curriculum Development.
