Bill's Story
Hello fellow classmates:
I would enjoy hearing from "ANYONE" from old Hayward High even though it has been over 60 years since graduation.
My abridged Bio:
After graduation I entered Naval Aviation and made that my first career which ended in 1978 with Disability Retirement. i.e. Vietnam era!
Next I went back to school and earned a B.S. degree in Psychology -still trying to figure out what's normal and abnormal- graduating in 1982.
Shortly after that I went through a divorce and became "Mr. Mom" to our two youngest children; when they left home I decided to take a Sabbatical, didn't plan on it being five years, but it sure was fun.
Then I thought it's time to go back to part time work and put my "Psych Training" to use, that was a real eye opener working in an Acute Crisis Unit in a hospital and then working for County Mental Health.
Well gang I found out that compassion and mercy were at opposite ends of the spectrum from my young adult years in the military. But never the less a good learning experience.
Now I am fully retired and enjoy my "Rocking Chair." Just joking with you.
God bless and again I say to "ANYONE" who remotely knew me, send an email and let me know what's happening in "YOUR" life.
Epilogue:
Hello again fellow "Farmers", that rocking chair is getting more use lately and as we all face our 70th year -360 days in a biblical year- I reflect ...Expand for more
back to my teenage years in high school and many of the good times it held for me.
Football, after game parties, getting my first car and most of all you pretty girls. Yes, these are memories pressed between the pages of my mind.
Cruising Mission Blvd, as far down as Prings restaurant and then the reverse back to Hayward looking to pick up ladies, some times I even got lucky, and it was all part of those wonderful years.
I would like to share one more memory in my life that stands out from all the rest.
I got to live my "Dream" by entering into Naval Aviation. So much to say, so I'll try to keep it short. If I had one wish it would be this...
I would like to go aboard a carrier and ride the rail -catapult launch- one more time. Fly just one more sortie -mission- then return and -trap aboard- arrested landing, and when flight operations were secured, walk out to the bow of the ship and let the salt water spray into my face and again thank God, He had brought me back safely.
I've had a good life for the most part and it was my great pleasure to know many of you my fellow classmates.
Take Care...
Bill
p.s. I recently moved to Livermore, May 2012, and live in an 55+ community. I would love to hear from anybody that may still live in the area...
p.s.s. Moved again in 2014 to Redding, CA and uploaded a more current photo off my Veterans Administration ID Card.
