William's Story

Life Attended WVU briefly. Married, moved out of state. Divorced. Moved further. Remarried. Now? Three kids, divorced again. Now in Suburban DC. Thirty-second book just came out. Named to the Appalachian Education Initiative's list of 50 outstanding creative artists from West Virginia (others from MoHi? Don Knotts, Lawrence Kasdan and David Selby). US National Beat Poet Laureate 2017-2018. School Hmmm...Morgantown High. Did okay in class, great on ACTs and SATs and had the social life of a three-toed sloth (not very confident with the ladies, of which there were many worth my attention). Was the Jesus-Freak in residence for a bit (to the point that certain "friends" who will remain nameless took joy in writing mash notes to girls that were psycho (the notes...Expand for more
, not the girls) and signing my name to them. Thanks guys, for making me even more of a pariah than I made myself.) College I attended sporadically...changed majors a few times, got a couple of A's and many incompletes...finally had to choose between my job and WVU...and it wasn't even a close vote. Have there been times the lack of a degree has hurt? Yes, but the next two years built my resume in ways a mere degree would not have. No regrets. Workplace When I am not grinding out the books or functioning as CEO of Venetian Spider Press.... COO of a DC area consulting firm and consulting on business development and sales. Worked for most major consulting firms in DC and Los Angeles, as well as a season or two in Silicon Valley. Plotting my return to California.
