William Gora:  

Life Dr.William Gora, Dir.of Bands and Prof. of Saxophone at Appalachian St. U since 1976, where he conducts the Wind Ens.and the administers the band program. During his tenure, the ASU Wind Ens.has hosted residencies by many of America's leading composers and performers. The Wind Ens. has also performed for meetings of the Coll. Band Dirs.Nat'l.Assoc.and the NC Music Ed Assoc.Gora served as dir. of Cannon Music Camp from 1982 through 94.He earned a B.of Mus from the U of Miami studying conducting with Frederick Fennell. Following 2 years of teaching in Ft.Laud.,FL, he completed a MM Ed from the U of FL, where he taught sax and conducted concert and jazz bands.He resumed his studies in conducting and wind lit.with Fennell at U of M and earned a DMA in saxophone performance. Gora has performed and conducted throughout the US,Can,Europe and Romania.
