William's Story
Well, let's see.......Sept. 24th, 1969
I enlisted in the U.S.A.F. after going to summer school to get my diploma. Sorry, I just couldn't get interested in English Literature, or World History, I was bored with it all, I wasn't really stupid, I was just bored with it all !!! All I really cared about was music, those of you that knew me at least knew that much about me I hope. So.......Uncle Sam took me halfway around the world to the Riyukin Islands, a lovely little place called Okinawa, where I was a Security Police officer. I was 18 years old halfway around the world wearing a badge, and carrying a gun !!! Guarding uploaded alert force fighter jets, missle silo's, B-52 bombers, Sr-71 Blackbird spy planes, and atomic weapons, and still loving music. Needless to say, I has some very good times, and some very very bad times until I was discharged. (Honorably of course) When I came home, I wanted nothing to do with Law Enforcement or anything to do with firearms, all I wanted to do was play music, and so I did. I'll post a few pictures from those days so you can see me then. Anyway, I wound up in So. Jersey, Ocean City in the early '70s, where I also attended Stockton State College for a year on my GI Bill benefits, and then moved down to Wildwood, and started playing and singing in the locol bars, Henrys, The Harbor Inn, The Manor Bar, The Oceanic, The Ugly Mug, The Library III, Bayshores Lounge in West Cape May, just kinda all over the place, thru the mid '70's to early '80's......oh yeah and also all summer long in Philadelphia for Philadelphia '76 during the Bicenntenial celebration. The Good times were far outweighing the bad.
In 1982 I moved to s...Expand for more
outh Florida, and got a real job in the electronics industry, selling TV's etc. and settled down to a life in retail sales, and then into the Financial industry as a mortgage loan officer for several different S&L's, and by '87 I got bored with the corporate life again, and hit the road back to Wildwood NJ for another round of playing music....just kinda in my bones I guess.. anyway I bounced around between Jersey and Fla for a few more years and in the '90's I wound up working for Sound Advice in Fort Lauderdale, until I couldn't stand retail sales anymore, and something somehow got me into computers around 1999,and I haven't looked back. I was an I.T. in support of BellSouth Fast Access DSL Services for TAG in Margate Fl, and then around 2004 I got into digital photography, and graphics. In 2007-2008 I returned to college and took 27 semester hours of Grapic Arts and Graphic Design courses, and now I have a Certificate in Graphic Design Technology. Funny my last year in school (2007-2008) I maintained a 4.0 GPA and made the college President's list, something quite different than my performance at good old HHS, but when you are studying things that you love, and care about, the difference can be, and is, astounding !!! I think the moral to this story is "if you do what you really love to do, you will really be happy, and love doing it !!!"
So smile, sing a love song to someone you love, have fun, but most of all be happy, and do what you love, these 40 years have flown by, and proved it, life is too short !!! If you read my story, leave me a message, I would love to hear from any, and all of you!!!
