William 'Liam''s Story
Life
Immediately following graduation from Lowndes High School, Valdosta, Georgia, I went to the United States Air Force Academy where I graduated in 1974. I spent a little over ten years in the Air Force before discovering that I preferred a more flexible and less structured life than the military afforded. For quite some time, I was president of my own small database consulting firm near Boulder, Colorado.
I am recently divorced but have remarried a wonderful woman, Helen and have two great sons - - Erik (28) a paramedic and Will (27) a nuclear engineer aboard an aircraft carrier. Life in Seattle is good - - come see me - - we'll hike, drink the famous Seattle coffee, or dodge the raindrops.
School
What can we say about high school days, 36 years after the fact? It's over, our lessons learned and incorporated, and it's time to move on, we hope, to bigger and better things.
Oh, and since people can find interesting people by searching on keywords, let me add a few that may trigger a few search results:
incredulous, narcolepsy, spirochete, nuance, flippant, droll, mungbean, drysophila, Welsh rarebit, lariat, snooter, freezer burn, never...Expand for more
theless, undercover, lute, methane, fuzz buster, dumpster.
College
The Blue Womb (the USAF Academy in Colorado Springs) was a place of great challenge and great learning - - learning how to separate the wheat from the chaff and how to discern real value from Fool's Gold - - not that I have necessarily internalized all those lessons. Made great friends and set the stage for a life of seeking.
Workplace
Dilettante or Renaissance Man? Hard worker, creative genius, or slacker to top all slackers? Breath of fresh air or tired flack? Hard to say - - maybe all of the above - - maybe none of the above. Quien sabe indeed...
Military
Accidental tourist in the USAF - - not really certain why I joined or why I stayed - - or why Uncle Sam tolerated so many of my silly shenanigans for so long. The abiding question should have been 'how could an anarchist at heart ever have found happiness in the Blue Womb of Uncle Sam's military?" Mayhaps I'll never know - - apologies to all I offended along the way; kudos to those who kept me sane and grinning; 'you're welcome' to those who shared my insipid gurning and grinning at the antics going on about us...
