William's Story
Life
After high school, I was slated to enter U of U, but didn't have the money, so I joined the U.S. Navy. I went to Electronics Technician School, and spent 20 years traveling the world. In December 1965, I married Barbara Canavan, and we have 4 children: Daniel, Jennifer, Christopher, and Jason. I worked in the Aerospace Industry, as a Manufacturing Engineer for 28 years, and have also taught electronics in the Navy and in Industry. We have lived all over the U.S. (South Carolina, Florida, Texas), but most the time in Southern California. Making many trips to Salt Lake, over the years, we have run into less and less of our classmates, as they spread out over the world. As a pasttime, I enjoy writing short stories and poetry, and have been fortunate enough to have a couple of poems published, but have kept the short stories mostly unread (And yes, I "have" been working on a novel... for many years. Actually, I have written one and most of a second one, but can't seem to get anyone to read them).
I moved back to Salt Lake City in 2002, ...Expand for more
as part of my companys' consolidation program, but as a result of Sequestration (Congress could not get their act together) I took a voluntary layoff, and retired (from my second career). I could not fathom sitting around at home, so I looked around for a third career, and decided to go back to school to be a Pharmacy Technician. I have my license as a Pharmacy Tech, and work at it, since the fall of 2013. I hope to work in that field for as long as I can. We have a house in West Valley City. We are also grandparents, 6 times. Would enjoy hearing from classmates, and shipmates, to hear how they have lived the last 40+ years, or since I served with them in the Navy. So, I'm finally retired, but can't relax, so I picked on writing again. So far I've published 2 fiction books, and have one in for publication. I also have 2 more books waiting to be published, and I'm nearing completion of an adventure story I'm really pleased with (not to say others would agree). I'm slowing down and have health issues, but my writing is keeping my mind sharp.
